The temples of Angkor number over 1000 and range in scale from nondescript piles of brick rubble to the awe inspiring Angkor Wat, which is said to be the world's largest religious monument.
For me, the temples rivalled anything I had seen on my travels so far. The temple at Bayon with its massive stone faces and the elaborate carvings at Banteay Srei were amongst my favourites, whilst Stephie preferred the huge temple complex of Angkor Wat, where after bribing a guard we were treated to a private tour of the upper gallery before the hoards descended.
