Parque Nacional Talampaya is a national park located in the southwest of La Rioja Province, Argentina approximately 100km northeast of Parques Ischigualasto.
The landscape of the park is as a result of erosion by wind and water and the differences in day and night time temperatures – high by day and low by night.
I travelled to the park from San Agustín de Valle Fértil along with Caroline and several others that had arrived at the hostel on Wednesday afternoon.
Unlike the tour of the Ischigualasto, where we were driven around the park in our own vehicle, at Talampaya we were taken by minibus with a guide. The landscape of the park was different to that of Ischigualasto but still breathtakingly beautiful.
After the tour Caroline and I were to travel onwards to La Rioja where we would get a connecting bus on to Salta.
We caught the bus from outside the entrance to Talampaya where not long after the bus broke down. We were told we would have a two to three hour wait whilst another bus was sent from La Rioja to pick us up.
Faced with this prospect Caroline and I decided to try and hitch a ride. We were fortunate enough to be picked up by Juan and his daughter, Alexandra who kindly took us to La Rioja where we caught an overnight bus on to Salta.

Hi Lee, am really loving the photograph of you trying to fix the bus!!!!!not sure that mechanics is one of your strong points:) but at least you gave it a go...x I think that you and buses have a love hate relationship.. you certainly do not have much luck with them. Am really loving the new photographs, colours are absolutely amazing. I am so very proud of you. Be careful who you hitch a lift with and what vehicle, do not want you in the back of a pig wagon.
Just off to clinic now enjoy your day love you loads, big hus and kisses from Mum...x
