Rio de Janeiro from the air

I left Salvador this morning and flew to Rio de Janeiro before taking a connecting flight down to Foz do Iguacu which is in the state of Parana, Brazil.

On taking off from Rio de Janeiro-Galeao International Airport I got a fantastic view of the city off to my left.

Rio’s domestic airport, Santos Dumont can be seen on the far left of the frame with Sugarloaf Mountain towards the top left. Christ the Redeemer is towards the top right of the frame and the iconic bowl of the maracana can be seen in the bottom right hand corner. An awesome sight!
